The guys over at American Drink reminded me it was old fashioned week, so I did something I never do which was pick up a bottle of whiskey. Not being a pro at buying whiskey I went for the recognizable and moderately good with Coke, Crown Royal. Not wanting to buy a $12 64 oz jar of Maraschino Cherries I decided to skip those for now.

Out of syrup I used standard sugar and of course going with the theme out of orange and lemon I used lime, and just a splash of seltzer. The beauty of the Old Fashioned is it’s recipe does not have strict rules as it’s name would suggest. My semi experimental lime seltzer Old Fashioned was a success. And followed up with a crown, coke, and lime was a fine contrast to the heavy alcohol flavor of the Old Fashioned.
